Sendir’s serving and Boledovicova’s final kill finish VCU’s sweep

VCU’s ten service aces helped the Rams sweep Rhode Island Saturday at the Siegel Center. Nina Boledovicova supplied the last kill to finish a 25–21, 25–17, 25–22 win.
Boledovicova led VCU with 12 kills on .375 hitting and added two aces. Letizia Galli contributed 11 kills, while Cansin Sendir combined 27 assists, 11 digs and four aces.
VCU’s clearest attacking advantage came in the second set. The Rams hit .269 with four errors, while Rhode Island hit .061 with eight errors. The eight-point win put VCU one set from completing the sweep, which Boledovicova finished in the closer third.
The Rams hit .188 overall against Rhode Island’s .155, led kills 38–32 and had a 43–32 advantage in digs. Lara Del Core joined Boledovicova with two aces; Rhode Island finished with three aces as a team.
VCU improved to 7–8 overall and 5–2 in Atlantic 10 play. Rhode Island fell to 5–14 and 0–7. The Rams next play at George Mason on October 16 at 6 p.m. Eastern.
