Uwimana opens scoring as Virginia Tech shuts out Queens, 3–0

Noe Uwimana converted an early penalty kick and Virginia Tech added two late goals to defeat Queens (N.C.) 3–0 on Tuesday at Thompson Field in Blacksburg.
Uwimana scored at 9:03 for his fourth goal of the season, a single-season best. That goal remained the difference at halftime, with the Hokies leading 1–0.
Mehdi Kettani made it 2–0 in the 80th minute with his second goal of the season. Luke Hamel followed at 86:39, also scoring his second of the year.
Virginia Tech outshot Queens 19–11 and earned 10 corner kicks to the visitors’ three. The victory was the Hokies’ third straight and their third shutout of the season, moving them to 5–2–1. Queens fell to 2–6–1.
