Morgan State’s four-game winning streak now carries a national media ranking. The Bears entered the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 at No. 24 Monday, their first appearance in that specific poll, according to the university.
Morgan received 116 points after improving to 5–1 with a 28–27 homecoming win over Robert Morris. The school describes that record as its best start since 2009. Its only loss this season came against Arizona State.
Saturday’s victory required two recoveries. Morgan trailed 14–0 early and 14–3 at halftime before producing 18 third-quarter points. Cameron Edge’s 56-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Towler and Keith Jenkins Jr.’s 45-yard scoring run helped erase the deficit.
Robert Morris retook the lead at 27–21 with 4:16 remaining. Morgan answered with an 11-play, 75-yard possession, finished by Jenkins’ one-yard touchdown with 24 seconds left and Gavin Fetty’s go-ahead extra point. Jenkins ended with 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Edge threw for 181 yards and a score.
The Bears’ rushing balance mattered: they gained 188 yards on the ground while allowing Robert Morris 61 on 31 attempts. They also converted all three fourth-down tries and scored on each of their three red-zone possessions. Those finishes help explain how Morgan won despite being outgained 437–369 overall.
The next test is Tennessee State at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+. Morgan carries both the four-game streak and its first Stats Perform national media poll ranking into that trip.
