Morgan State men's basketball routs Cheyney 103-52 in opener at Hill Field House

The Morgan State Bears opened their season with a 103-52 win over the Cheyney (PA) Wolves on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, at Hill Field House in Baltimore. The Bears led by as many as 55 points in front of 1,456 fans and improved to 1-0.

How it played out

Morgan State scored 50 points in the first half and 53 in the second. Cheyney managed 25 and 27. The Wolves' largest lead was 3 points, and the lead changed hands once.

The Bears shot 38-of-75 from the field (51 percent) and 12-of-29 from three. Cheyney shot 16-of-67 (24 percent) and 5-of-23 from deep.

Worrell leads the scoring

Alfred Worrell Jr. paced Morgan State with 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 6-of-13 from three, in 21 minutes. Keith Richard added 15 points and a game-high 9 assists in 31 minutes. Trent Edwards finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Ibrahima Traore led all players with 14 rebounds and also had 4 blocks and 8 points. John Awoke scored 9 off the bench, David Bumpass had 7 and Trey Pettigrew added 8.

Bears control the glass and the paint

Morgan State out-rebounded Cheyney 62-34, with 20 offensive boards. The Bears scored 46 points in the paint to the Wolves' 16 and had 20 fast-break points to Cheyney's 4. They turned 15 Wolves turnovers into 25 points, while committing 11 turnovers themselves. Morgan State also had 25 assists on 38 field goals and 7 blocks.

Cheyney's night

Steven Hill and Paul Lindsay II each scored 10 points to lead the Wolves. S.J. Hutchinson II added 9 on 3-of-12 shooting, and Nafis Dubose had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, all of his points from the free-throw line. Cheyney had 3 assists as a team.
