Hamilton’s 19 kills cannot lift Mason past Fordham

George Mason found a way back into Saturday’s volleyball match after losing the opener, but Fordham won the final two sets to hand the Patriots a four-set defeat.
Fordham prevailed 25–17, 22–25, 25–23, 25–18. Mason’s second-set response left the match level, and the two-point third set kept the result within reach. Losing that set put the Patriots in the position of needing consecutive wins; Fordham instead finished in the fourth.
Kiera Hamilton led Mason with 19 kills, while Nia Thompson added 13. Ava Cheney supplied 35 assists.
The loss leaves Mason at 13–5 overall and 5–1 in Atlantic 10 play. It is the Patriots’ first conference defeat, with the third set’s narrow margin marking the closest opportunity to change the match’s direction before Fordham closed it out.
Mason hit .108 against Fordham’s .288.
