Maci Bradford scored with 4:18 remaining to give Maryland a 1–0 victory over Wake Forest on Sept. 20, settling a top-five matchup that stayed scoreless deep into the fourth quarter.

The No. 5 Terrapins improved to 8–0 with the home victory over No. 4 Wake Forest. Alyssa Klebasko made six saves, and Ella Fehr assisted on Bradford's deciding goal.

The breakthrough came on a penalty corner, according to Maryland's recap. The official box score lists the finish at 55:42, ending more than 55 minutes without a goal from either side.

Both teams had opportunities before that moment. Wake Forest held a narrow 5–4 edge in first-half shots, while Maryland recorded two shots in each of the first three quarters. The teams entered the final period still looking for a way past the opposing goalkeeper.

The fourth quarter brought a sharper exchange of chances. Maryland took six shots and Wake Forest five during the period. Klebasko made four of her six saves in those final 15 minutes, keeping the game level before Bradford scored and helping protect the narrow result.

Maryland finished with 12 shots to Wake Forest's 11 and held a 5–3 edge in penalty corners. Each team recorded six saves, underscoring how little separated the sides on the scoreboard.

The win gave the Terrapins their second ranked victory of the season, following their shootout result against Duke.

The game coincided with alumni weekend, when the program recognized members of its 2005 and 2006 national championship teams. Maryland's next scheduled game was a Sept. 25 home meeting with Rutgers.
