Babs van Hest and Francisca Eschoyez each scored twice as Maryland defeated Saint Joseph's 5–0 on Sept. 13, completing a shutout weekend at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
The No. 7 Terrapins moved to 6–0, two days after beating Towson 6–0. Their latest victory was their largest in the series against Saint Joseph's, according to Maryland's recap.
Van Hest opened the scoring just 2:30 into the game. Maryland held that one-goal lead until late in the second quarter, when Eschoyez scored at 25:22. Maci Bradford and Ella Beach were credited with assists as the Terps built a 2–0 halftime advantage.
The separation grew quickly after the break. Eschoyez converted a penalty stroke at 33:32, then van Hest scored again 48 seconds later, with Aida Ierubino providing the assist. Those two plays made it 4–0 before the midpoint of the third quarter.
Ierubino added Maryland's fifth at 48:25, completing a day in which three Terrapins scored and two produced multiple goals.
The official box score recorded a 24–8 Maryland advantage in shots, including 17 shots on goal. The Terrapins also earned 11 penalty corners while allowing only one.
Alyssa Klebasko kept Saint Joseph's scoreless for three quarters before Ryleigh Osborne took over in the fourth. Maryland's goalkeepers combined for five saves to finish the team's second consecutive shutout.
With the win, the Terps were 7–0 all-time against the Hawks. Their opening six games had now included four shutouts, providing a strong defensive foundation before conference competition.
Maryland's next scheduled game was its Big Ten opener at Penn State on Sept. 17.
