Eikelboom scores twice as Maryland shuts out Rutgers — September 25, 2026

Djuna Eikelboom scored her first two goals of the season, and Alyssa Klebasko made six saves as Maryland defeated Rutgers 3–0 on Sept. 25 in College Park.
The No. 2 Terrapins improved to 9–0 overall and 2–0 in the Big Ten. Francisca Eschoyez added the other Maryland goal as the hosts completed their sixth shutout of the season, according to the official recap.
A scoreless first quarter gave way to Maryland's opening goal at 21:25. Eikelboom finished with an assist from Aida Ierubino, putting the Terps ahead after Rutgers had kept their early opportunities out of the cage.
The lead remained 1–0 until the closing seconds of the third quarter. Eschoyez scored at 44:36, with Maci Bradford and Babs van Hest assisting, to double Maryland's advantage before the final period.
Eikelboom added her second goal at 53:37. The unassisted finish left Rutgers needing three goals in the remaining minutes, and the Terrapins completed the shutout.
The official box score showed a 19–9 Maryland edge in shots and an 8–2 advantage in penalty corners. Rutgers put six shots on target, all stopped by Klebasko. Maryland directed seven shots on goal and converted three.
Klebasko's work was spread across the game rather than concentrated in one brief stretch. She recorded a save in each quarter, including two in the second and two in the fourth.
For Maryland, the result combined a new source of scoring with the defense that had kept its opening run intact. The Terrapins had conceded only four goals through nine games.
A road trip to Princeton was next on the schedule for Sept. 29.
