Maci Bradford gives unbeaten Maryland a scorer and a creator entering Big Ten weekend

Bradford’s finishing and distribution help explain Maryland’s unbeaten run before two Big Ten home games.

Maci Bradford’s latest performance gave Maryland two ways to break down an opponent: she finished chances herself and helped teammates finish theirs.

The senior forward scored twice and assisted on two more goals in the Terrapins’ 5-2 win at Michigan on Oct. 9. On Monday, she was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, becoming Maryland’s first recipient of that award since Hope Rose in November 2024.

That combination of production matters as the Terps return to College Park for two conference games. Maryland hosts Michigan State on Friday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. ET and Ohio State on Sunday, Oct. 18, at noon ET. Both games are listed on B1G+ on the team’s schedule.

Maryland enters the weekend 12-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten, with the No. 1 position in the Oct. 13 NFHCA coaches poll. Bradford’s work offers a closer look at how the unbeaten run has been sustained.

At Michigan, the teams went into halftime scoreless. Maryland eventually scored four times in a 3-minute, 19-second span during the third quarter. Maia Adamson opened the scoring, Bradford doubled the lead, and Jordyn Hollamon and Madeline Vasilios added goals with Bradford credited with assists. When Michigan cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth, Bradford scored again. The sequence is detailed in Maryland’s game recap.

Her involvement in four of the five goals illustrates the difficulty of treating her only as a finisher. The same player who can take a chance herself can also supply another scoring option. Michigan’s game did not turn on repeated goals from one shooter; four different Terps scored during the decisive quarter.

Bradford’s creating role also has a longer track record. According to her Maryland player biography, she led the team with eight assists and 18 points in 2025, earning second-team All-Big Ten recognition. She had already contributed 10 goals and five assists as a freshman in 2023. The current senior is building on several seasons of responsibility in the attack.

The defense has given that attack room to work. Maryland allowed only three goals across its first three conference games, including three scoreless quarters against Michigan before the Wolverines broke through.

This weekend will move Maryland from three completed Big Ten games to five. Road dates at Northwestern and Indiana follow. For the Terps, the immediate job is to maintain their conference start at home, with Bradford’s ability to both score and create among their strongest recent answers.
