Beach's late equalizer sets up Maryland shootout win over Duke — September 6, 2026

Ella Beach scored in the 59th minute to keep Maryland alive, and the Terrapins completed their comeback in a shootout to beat Duke 3–2 on Sept. 6 in Newton, Massachusetts.
The No. 13 Terps trailed No. 6 Duke 2–0 after the first quarter. Francisca Eschoyez cut the deficit in the second, but Maryland still needed Beach's first career goal near the end of regulation to force overtime, according to the official recap.
Neither team found a winner in overtime. Duke scored on its opening shootout attempt before Ella Fehr answered. Maci Bradford then put Maryland ahead, and Eschoyez delivered the clinching conversion.
Maryland won the shootout 3–1. That result produced an official game score of 3–2, as listed on the Terrapins' schedule, rather than adding every shootout conversion to the regulation score.
The victory brought Maryland to 4–0 and gave the Terps their first ranked win of the season. It also completed a sweep of their B1G/ACC Challenge weekend after the Sept. 4 victory at Boston College.
Maryland's next scheduled opponent was Towson at home on Sept. 11.
