Five scorers carry Liberty past Saint Joseph’s, 5–1 — September 4, 2026

Liberty spread its scoring across five players and built a two-goal first-quarter lead in a 5–1 victory over Saint Joseph’s on Sept. 4 at Ellen Ryan Field in Philadelphia. The Lady Flames improved to 2–1, while the Hawks fell to 1–2.
Pia Iapichino and Clarisa Iudicello each scored her first collegiate goal, adding to earlier finishes from Zoé Gaillard, Luna Prieri and Julieta Tornati. Their contributions gave Liberty three second-half goals after a scoreless second quarter. The official recap documents the five-goal performance.
Gaillard opened the scoring at 7:14. Prieri then converted a penalty-corner opportunity late in the first period, giving Liberty a cushion it carried into halftime. Tornati extended the margin in the third quarter, also from a corner, before Cat Arentz answered for Saint Joseph’s.
The Hawks’ goal did not become the start of a comeback. Iapichino scored later in the third quarter from Josefina Tomasi’s assist, and Iudicello finished a Mia Santana feed in the fourth.
The official box score shows Liberty ahead 14–6 in shots and 9–3 in penalty corners. The Lady Flames put nine of their attempts on target. Seven of the Lady Flames’ shots came in the third quarter, the period in which they turned a 2–0 halftime advantage into a 4–1 lead. Saint Joseph’s produced only one shot in that quarter.
Liberty also limited the Hawks to one fourth-quarter attempt. The statistical pattern matched the scoring: an early lead, a productive third period and little room for the hosts to recover. Liberty’s next stop on the road weekend was James Madison.
