First-half goals and tight defense lift Liberty over Old Dominion — October 2, 2026

Luna Prieri and Avery Pollock scored before halftime, and Liberty allowed just one shot on goal in a 2–0 win over Old Dominion on Oct. 2 in Lynchburg. The No. 17 Lady Flames earned their first BIG EAST victory of the season and improved to 6–4 overall, 1–1 in conference play.
Old Dominion fell to 7–3 and 0–2 in the league. The shutout was Liberty’s third of the season. The official recap describes a defensive effort that protected the early advantage without requiring a busy afternoon in goal.
Prieri opened the scoring late in the first quarter after Clarisa Iudicello worked through the defense and found her in space. Pollock doubled the lead in the second quarter, finishing Josefina Tomasi’s pass after an Old Dominion turnover.
The official box score shows Liberty built a 10–2 first-half shot advantage. Seven of those Lady Flames attempts came in the second period, when the Monarchs did not record a shot. Liberty led 14–5 in shots for the game and put 10 attempts on target.
The Lady Flames also held a 6–2 edge in penalty corners, earning at least one in every quarter. Old Dominion’s limited opportunities never produced a goal; Diane Saint Martin stopped the Monarchs’ lone on-target attempt late in the fourth quarter.
Prieri’s goal was her sixth of the season, while Pollock scored her second. Liberty’s attack had supplied enough offense by the break, and the defense prevented the visitors from changing the game afterward. The Lady Flames next traveled to Richmond for a nonconference matchup, carrying a conference win into the remainder of the weekend.
