Kopke’s second goal leaves JMU and Liberty level at 2–2

Dylan Randazzo gave James Madison a second-half lead, but Hugo Kopke’s second goal of the night brought Liberty back for a 2–2 draw Tuesday at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg.

Kopke opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Christer Salvesen answered for JMU in the 14th minute, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1–1.

Randazzo put the Dukes ahead in the 49th minute with his first collegiate goal. Kopke equalized in the 67th, and neither team scored again.

Both sides finished with nine shots. Liberty held a 5–4 edge in shots on goal and a 4–3 advantage in corner kicks. JMU moved to 3–4–1; Liberty is 2–4–2.

The Dukes travel to South Carolina for a 7 p.m. match Sunday, September 27. Liberty returns home to face Furman at 5 p.m. Saturday, September 26.
