George Washington’s final nonconference match ended with a 2–0 loss at High Point on Tuesday, as goals either side of halftime left the Revolutionaries chasing a game in which their attacking opportunities were limited. GW drops to 4–5–3 before returning to Atlantic 10 play at George Mason this weekend.

Nick Sarantakos broke the deadlock at 41:23, assisted by Noah Behrmann. The timing denied GW the chance to take a scoreless match into halftime and gave High Point a lead after sustained pressure in the opening period. Anthony Ramirez made it 2–0 at 57:36, with Behrmann and Sarantakos both credited with assists.

High Point’s production was not confined to those two finishing moments. The Panthers finished with a 17–6 advantage in total shots and a 7–2 edge in attempts on target. GW goalkeeper Diego Pena made five saves and played the full 90 minutes, keeping the final margin to two while facing a much greater volume of threatening efforts than his counterpart.

Joe Brayson led GW with two shots, including one on frame. Ben McGovern provided the other shot on target. No other Revolutionaries player attempted more than one shot, an indication of how difficult it was to build repeated attacking pressure against the hosts.

The corner count also favored High Point, 8–1. Taken alongside the shot totals, that suggests a match in which GW spent more of its time responding to danger than generating sustained chances of its own. Pena’s saves prevented further scoring, but a goalkeeper’s work cannot supply the goals needed to erase a deficit.

Sarantakos contributed to both High Point goals, while Behrmann assisted on each. Their repeated involvement gave the home side continuity between the late first-half breakthrough and the second-half insurance goal. High Point improved to 9–3–1 with the win.

GW’s focus now returns to conference play, where it is 0–2–2. The Revolutionaries visit George Mason in Fairfax on Saturday, October 17, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Eastern and coverage on ESPN+. After Tuesday’s shutout, the immediate challenge is to create more than isolated attempts and give the attack a stronger platform for its next league opportunity.
