Samuel and a sharp fourth set lift GW past Davidson

George Washington answered its only lost set with its cleanest attacking stretch Saturday, beating Davidson in four sets to open alumni weekend.
GW won 25–16, 25–11, 16–25, 25–19. After controlling the opening two sets, the Revolutionaries had to reset when Davidson took the third. Their response was a fourth-set .452 hitting percentage with just one attack error, enough to finish the match without a deciding fifth set.
Riley Samuel led GW with 14 kills on .545 hitting and added six blocks. Cayla Cogan contributed 12 kills and 10 digs, while Abby Markworth combined 42 assists with 10 digs.
The overall numbers reflected GW’s balance. The Revolutionaries hit .314 against Davidson’s .154 and led the blocking count 12–5.
