Georgetown’s seven-point finish seals five-set win at DePaul

Georgetown broke an 8–8 tie by winning the final seven points Saturday, finishing a five-set volleyball victory at DePaul with Kamryn Lee-Caracci’s solo block of Leonor Polezzi.
The Hoyas won 18–25, 25–18, 25–22, 21–25, 15–8 at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago. Georgetown improved to 11–6 overall and 3–3 in BIG EAST play; DePaul fell to 12–5 and 4–2.
Lee-Caracci’s kill from a Natalie Nguyen assist started the deciding run. With Juleigh Urbina serving, Georgetown added a combined block by Lee-Caracci and Katherine McGregor, a DePaul attack error and an Alexis Anderson solo block. Lee-Caracci and McGregor then supplied consecutive kills before Lee-Caracci ended the match at the net.
The finish capped Georgetown’s sharpest attacking set: nine kills without an error on 15 attempts, a .600 hitting percentage. DePaul had six kills and six errors in the fifth, hitting .000.
The Hoyas had already recovered from losing the opener, winning the second behind 17 kills and only one error. They moved ahead two sets to one before DePaul’s 25–21 fourth-set win forced the decider.
Lee-Caracci and Dionna Mitchell each finished with 14 kills, while McGregor added 13. Georgetown hit .352 overall against DePaul’s .200. Urbina recorded 31 assists and three aces, Nguyen supplied 20 assists and Bella McGirr had 20 digs.
