Ash’s two touchdowns and Cadet’s late interception give Georgetown its first win

Clay Ash ran Georgetown into the lead, and Wedner Cadet intercepted Bucknell’s final possession to protect it. The Hoyas earned their first win Saturday, 21–14, after holding the Bison scoreless throughout the second half.
Ash finished with 135 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. His 21-yard scoring run with 1:27 left in the third quarter ended a five-play, 62-yard drive and broke a 14–14 tie. Georgetown still had an entire quarter to defend the advantage.
Bucknell’s last chance began at its own 20 with 3:02 remaining. Emmett Dowling and Michael Cadden moved the ball to the 42 before Cadet intercepted Dowling’s next pass and returned it four yards. Georgetown took possession with 1:36 left and used three Ash carries to exhaust the remaining time. Cadet finished with two interceptions.
The Hoyas had needed two earlier responses just to reach halftime level. Dowling’s three-yard touchdown pass to Chad Martin gave Bucknell the opening lead; Jayden Sumpter answered with a one-yard run to finish Georgetown’s 10-play, 78-yard possession.
Cadden then put the Bison ahead again on a 25-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Ash supplied the next answer, a 31-yard touchdown at the end of an 11-play, 75-yard drive. Neither team scored again before halftime.
Georgetown’s running game accounted for 254 of its 412 total yards. Sumpter added 64 yards on 17 carries, and Gavin Beard completed 18 of 23 passes for 158 yards with one interception. The Hoyas converted three of four fourth-down attempts despite finishing only two of 12 on third down.
Bucknell managed 253 total yards, including 80 rushing, and lost possession three times. Jack Casey led Georgetown with nine tackles and two sacks. The Bison’s first-half scoring drives gave way to a second half without points, leaving Ash’s third-quarter run as the game’s final score.
Georgetown improved to 1–4. Its last defensive stand ensured that the first victory survived Bucknell’s final attempt to tie it.
