Commanders rally from 10-0 down to beat Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night

LANDOVER, Md. — The Washington Commanders spotted the Philadelphia Eagles a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, then scored the game's final 27 points and shut out their division rival over the last three quarters in a 27-10 win Sunday night at Northwest Stadium.
Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, rookie kicker Drew Stevens made four field goals including a 56-yarder, and the Washington defense sacked Tanner McKee five times and forced two turnovers in front of 64,195. The Commanders improved to 2-4-1 and 2-1-1 at home. Philadelphia fell to 2-6.
How it unfolded
Washington's first drive stalled in a missed field goal, and the Eagles took a 3-0 lead on a 40-yard Jake Elliott field goal with 6:10 left in the first quarter. On the next play from scrimmage, Chig Okonkwo fumbled, and Philadelphia needed three plays to cover 26 yards, with Saquon Barkley scoring from 3 yards out to make it 10-0 with 4:27 remaining in the quarter.
Stevens answered with his 56-yard field goal with 28 seconds left in the first quarter, and the Commanders did not allow another point.
Daniels tied the game at 10 with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs with 4:56 left in the second quarter, capping an 11-play, 89-yard drive that took 5:50. Stevens added a 39-yarder with 19 seconds left in the half to send Washington into the break ahead 13-10.
In the third quarter, Charles Omenihu recovered a McKee fumble, and Washington followed with a five-play, 53-yard drive that Stevens finished with a 25-yard field goal with 1:33 left in the period for a 16-10 lead.
Philadelphia's best chance to get back in it came on a 15-play, 57-yard drive that chewed up 7:35. A 36-yard Elliott field goal was wiped out by an illegal formation penalty, and his 41-yard attempt hit the left upright. Washington went 45 yards the other way and Stevens hit from 42 with 3:43 to play.
The defense then closed the door. K'Lavon Chaisson sacked McKee for an 11-yard loss on third-and-14, and on fourth-and-25, Rasul Douglas intercepted McKee's deep throw and returned it 22 yards to the Philadelphia 37. Rachaad White ripped off a 33-yard run on the next play and scored from the 1 with 1:52 left, and Austin Ekeler ran in the two-point conversion for the final margin.
