Washington signed running back Devin Neal to its practice squad Tuesday, adding a player with NFL rushing and receiving experience ahead of Monday’s trip to San Francisco.
Neal was selected by New Orleans in the fifth round of the 2025 draft. The Commanders’ announcement lists 10 NFL appearances and three starts. Last season, he gained 206 yards and scored twice on 57 carries, adding 17 receptions for 104 yards.
At Kansas, Neal became the school’s career rushing leader and produced three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. The signing is to Washington’s practice squad; the announcement supplies no promotion to the active roster or role for Monday’s game.
The Commanders visit the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium at 8:15 p.m. Eastern on October 19. Neal’s addition provides a new personnel development as Washington prepares for that road game.
