Commanders' Daron Payne out for season with Jones fracture

Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne suffered a season-ending Jones fracture during Friday's practice, Adam Schefter reported Saturday morning.

The report followed an ESPN report from John Keim on Friday that Payne had suffered a significant foot injury in practice and was likely headed to injured reserve, according to sources who spoke with NFL Network.

The Commanders are 1-4-1 and sit third in the NFC East.

Washington next hosts the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, at 8:20 p.m. ET.
