Norfolk State carries Battle of the Bay win into Chicago trip

Norfolk State visits Chicago State at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, September 26, at 7 p.m. Eastern, or 6 p.m. Central. The Spartans’ official schedule lists radio coverage on WNSB Hot 91.1.

Norfolk State evened its record at 2–2 with a 42–21 victory over Hampton in the Battle of the Bay. That result followed losses to Old Dominion and Virginia after a season-opening win over Winston-Salem State.

The immediate test is bringing the improvement from the Hampton game onto the road. The Spartans scored 13 total points in their two prior away games, compared with 42 against Hampton, making offensive continuity a specific area to watch.

Defensively, Norfolk State will try to follow its lowest points-allowed total since the opener with another controlled performance. Chicago begins consecutive road dates for the Spartans, who visit Robert Morris on October 3 before returning home for Virginia-Lynchburg.
