Navy looks for its first conference win Friday at UAB

Navy heads to Protective Stadium in Birmingham to face UAB on Friday, September 25, at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. The Midshipmen are 1–1 overall and 0–1 in the American; UAB is 1–2 and playing its conference opener.

Navy last played September 12, losing 38–30 at Florida Atlantic. Its September 21 game notes list a rushing average of 376 yards per game and five touchdowns in five red-zone opportunities through two games.

That makes finishing drives one focus Friday. Another is whether Navy’s defense can produce its first takeaway of the season: the Midshipmen did not force a turnover in either opening game.

Navy leads the series 3–0 and won last year’s meeting 38–24. Friday begins a stretch of seven consecutive games without a bye, with a trip to Air Force next on October 3.
