Orioles Pound Yankees 10-2 Behind Alonso's Two Homers, Beavers' Grand Slam

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees 10-2 at Yankee Stadium in the first game of a doubleheader that had been rescheduled from Sept. 26.

Pete Alonso led Baltimore's offense, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored. His first homer came in the third inning off Yankees starter Brendan Beck, and his second came in the seventh off reliever Yerry De los Santos. Dylan Beavers added a grand slam in the fourth inning, also off Beck, finishing 1-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Jeremiah Jackson added an inside-the-park home run off De los Santos in the sixth inning.

Baltimore scored two runs in the third inning and five in the fourth, the frame in which Beavers connected for his slam. The Orioles added single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Baltimore finished with 13 hits and 10 runs on 40 at-bats, going 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Beck was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits over five innings with three walks and eight strikeouts. Baltimore starter Trevor Rogers worked four innings, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks before turning the game over to the bullpen. Albert Suarez earned the win in relief, throwing four scoreless innings with three hits allowed and five strikeouts, improving to 3-0 on the season.

New York's offense was limited to nine hits and two runs on 35 at-bats. Paul Goldschmidt and Amed Rosario each drove in a run, and Heliot Ramos hit a triple. The Yankees scored one run in the fourth inning and one in the ninth. Anthony Volpe and Ramos each collected two hits, while Ben Rice went 1-for-5. The Yankees struck out 11 times against Baltimore's pitching staff.

Colton Cowser and Christian Encarnacion-Strand each doubled for the Orioles, who also drew six walks as a team. Gunnar Henderson was charged with a throwing error, the lone miscue in the game. The contest lasted 2 hours and 46 minutes and was the first of a doubleheader between the two clubs at Yankee Stadium.

Correction, September 25, 2026: Jeremiah Jackson’s sixth-inning home run was inside the park. An earlier version incorrectly described it as leaving the park.
