Washington Throws for 347 Yards as Maryland Beats UConn, 38–14

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - Malik Washington completed 34 of 41 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns as Maryland defeated UConn 38–14 on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding caught eight passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, while Chris Durr Jr. added 10 catches for 103 yards and a score. Washington finished without an interception.

Maryland had to answer an early deficit. Kalieb Osborne's 36-yard touchdown pass to JD Willoughby gave UConn a 7–0 lead with 4:39 left in the first quarter. Washington responded with a 60-yard scoring pass to Gladding just 75 seconds later, tying the game at 7–7.

The Terrapins moved ahead in the second quarter on Harry Dalton III's four-yard touchdown run. Sean O'Haire added a 19-yard field goal with four seconds left before halftime, giving Maryland a 17–7 lead at the break.

Iverson Howard's one-yard touchdown run stretched the margin to 24–7 in the third quarter. UConn answered with Osborne's 39-yard scoring pass to Shamar Porter, cutting the deficit to 10 points with 5:29 remaining in the period.

Dalton scored again, this time from two yards, to put Maryland ahead 31–14 entering the fourth. Washington then connected with Durr for a 13-yard touchdown with 10:57 remaining to complete the scoring.

Howard led Maryland with 55 rushing yards on 14 carries. Dalton finished with 48 yards and two touchdowns on 17 attempts, giving the Terps three rushing scores alongside Washington's two touchdown passes.

For UConn, Osborne completed 10 of 21 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. The Huskies scored in the first and third quarters but were held scoreless in the second and fourth.
