JMU carries three straight wins into South Alabama series

James Madison opens Sun Belt volleyball play against South Alabama at the JMU Convocation Center on Friday, September 25, at 6 p.m. Eastern and Saturday at 1 p.m., as listed by the host school.

The Dukes enter at 5–5 after winning all three matches in their home invitational. They finished with a 25–14, 25–18, 25–20 sweep of George Mason on September 20, recording 17 team blocks.

Ayen Nhial contributed nine blocks and Kennedy Louisell had 13 kills against Mason. Their work at the net offers a concrete focus for the South Alabama series, rather than relying only on the three-match winning streak.

JMU’s recap lists South Alabama at 5–7 through nonconference play. The teams last met in the 2025 Sun Belt semifinals, when JMU won in five sets.
