Best 703/571 Public School Football Games (Week 10)

#13 Madison (6-2) vs. #19 Oakton (8-0)
Without question the game of the week in all of Northern Virginia. Both teams are among the top 25 in the whole state. Madison comes off of a 40-28 disappointment at the hands of South Lakes, while Oakton comes off a 55-20 cleansing of Chantilly last week. Madison has always had a lofty reputation in the state, but Oakton has had their best season since 2012 First-year head coach Said Aziz has led the burgundy and gold to an unbelievable unbeaten run in their first eight games. Madison brings in a run-heavy offense with Will Smoot, William Helvey, and Andrew Mau, while quarterback Lucas Vacaflor and Kellan Counts make up for a passing game that is more than solid. Oakton also brings in two major punches on both the run and the pass, with dual-threat Jack Martin leading an offense including the likes of Deylen Jones and Brayden Vasquez on the running game, and Colin Henriques and Timmy Volciak on the passing game. This duel of offensive juggernauts matching the Warhawks and the Cougars meet on Oakton’s campus this Friday at 7:00pm.
#25 Woodgrove (7-1) vs. Loudoun County (6-2)
Two of the best teams in all of Class 4 clash in the bonafide game of the week in all of Loudoun County. Woodgrove has outscored opponents 169-19 in the past three weeks, while Loudoun County is fresh off of a 35-7 rinsing against a very solid Handley team last week. Woodgrove brings in an offense led by dual-threat sophomore Colton Dabkowski, who may very well be on the rise to being one of the best players in all of Virginia. Their receiving game is primarily led by the likes of Hudson Jappell, but Woodgrove has four receivers who have registered over 300 receiving yards so far this year. Woodgrove’s running game is primarily led by Joey Ridolfi, who’s averaging a solid 9.6 yards per carry so far this year. Loudoun County brings in the likes of quarterback Anthony Immel and his partnerships with offensive standouts such as Jackson Patterson and Landon Kibble. The Wolverines and the Captains meet on Loudoun County’s campus this Friday at 7:00pm.
Alexandria City (7-1) vs. West Springfield (6-2)
This Region 6C matchup is arguably one of the most anticipated of the season. Alexandria City looks to get right back to winning ways from losing by three points at Robinson last week. However, their final two games of the year prove to be their biggest tests: West Springfield this week, and South County next week. West Springfield is fresh off of three blowout victories in the three weeks. Alexandria City brings an offense so heavy on the run that they’ve only scored one passing touchdown all year. Quarterback Samuel Salazaar shares his rushing duties with the likes of Dangelo Duarte, Kevin Coates, and Hamid Cham. West Springfield has been so dominant in their wins that they’ve frequently resorted to using two quarterbacks, preferring Kyle Lewis over Issa Owens in terms of the starting job. Superstar running back Dillon Wickham may very well cross 1,000 rushing yards in this game. Their passing game is also very dangerous, with the likes of Jevon Austin and Evan Graumann both registering over 400 receiving yards. The Titans and the Spartans meet on West Springfield’s campus this Friday at 7:00pm.
